One of my co-workers is taking part in a neat experiment. It is called FMARS (Flashline Mars Arctic Research Station) and is a project of the Mars Society. Stacy Cusack is a Station Training Lead (STL) at NASA - meaning she is in charge of training for a particular flight. For the next month she will be living in the Canadian Arctic on Devon Island, with the goal to focus on understanding the technical and human factors which may be faced by the first human Mars explorers. |
Learn more about the project at the official site, here and in this Galveston County Daily News article. You can also follow her progress on Twitter @martian1113.
