Talented people I know: Keith Goodson
I went to high school with Keith Goodson. He was a year ahead of me, but each day, when I entered art class, I would see some of his work on the walls and immediately feel humbled. You can learn more about Keith's work, including some impressive murals he has done for various churches, at his website, here.

Angelina
I haven't drawn anything in about six weeks. I have to make it a discipline or it's like starting over with each sketch. This is a sketch of Angelina Jolie I did, this evening. I spent about 40 minutes on it. It's too elongated and both eyes tilt down on the outside. Kind of reminds me of the caricatures from Mad Magazine. It might be a good starting point for some digital painting practice.
You suck at Photoshop
These hilarious Photoshop tutorials were brought to my attention, today. They are narrated by Donnie Hoyle a bitter Photoshop expert with a bad marriage. There are currently 20 episodes, which can be found in a few places include Youtube and MyDamnChannel. Take a look, you'll laugh and likely learn some neat Photoshop techniques. They even won the Webby award for long form comedy. Here are a couple of samples:
Photoshop is a trademark of Adobe.
Talented people I know: Nikolay Ivanov
I work with Nik. He is originally from Sofia, Bulgaria and is currently an instructor/flight controller at NASA. For the last couple of years he has been training himself in the techniques of digital art - both 3D using Maya and 2D using Photoshop. His works tend to focus on fantasy and women. Take a look at his website, here. Caution: Some pieces may be NSFW.
Larry Elmore - see how he works
When I was a teenager, I was a big fan of Larry Elmore. He did a lot of art for the Dungeons & Dragons people, and in particular for the Drangonlance series. I really wanted to (actually I still want to) be able to produce beautiful pictures like he did(does). In fact, I believe this sketch is referenced from a Larry Elmore painting. On his website he has taken several pictures of the various stages of a painting. Very interesting. Click here to see it.
Art tips from Mitch Breitweiser, via Twitter
"I use 2B because 2H scars up my boards. The art does get smudgy, but I roll a kneaded rubber eraser over it to pick up the excess lead." "Also, draw from your shoulder instead of your wrist."
"Here's my materials list for those that are asking: Windor & Newton Series 7 #4, Pentel Bush Pen, Black Magic ink, B or 2B Derwent pencils."
"Art Tip: Timidity is the worst enemy of the noob. Creat more confident strokes by practicing with a clumsier tool. A brush is ideal."
